Zone 7 · Herbs Growing Guide
Slow to germinate (3–4 weeks) but then productive for months. Soaking seeds overnight speeds germination. Biennial — grows leaves first year, flowers second.
In Zone 7, Parsley can be planted outdoors from Mar 01 — the window closes around May 01. Start seeds indoors around Jan 1 – Feb 1.
Nearly year-round in Zone 7. Cold-hardy to 20°F once established.
Biennial — feeds moderately. Monthly balanced feed. Avoid high nitrogen which reduces flavour intensity.
Sow a second batch 4 weeks after the first. Parsley is slow to germinate (3–4 weeks) and biennial — in its second year it bolts immediately. For practical purposes treat it as an annual and sow a fresh batch mid-season. The second sowing will be producing vigorously through autumn and into early winter in mild zones. Soak seeds overnight before sowing to improve germination speed.
What you plant near parsley makes a real difference — here's what to plant, when, and why.
Know what to look for before it gets out of hand — early identification is the most important step.
